On July 9th, Min Hee Jin, the CEO of ADOR, underwent an 8-hour police interrogation regarding allegations of embezzlement made by HYBE, ADOR’s parent company. The allegations, which came to light last month, accuse Min of misusing company funds for personal gain.
This interrogation marks the first official step in the investigation. Min was questioned extensively about her financial practices and specific transactions flagged by HYBE’s internal auditors. Despite the lengthy investigation, Min appeared calm and collected as she left the Seoul metropolitan police agency, even flashing a smile for the gathered reporters. Netizens noted that it appeared as if she was giving a discreet nod to NewJeans by wearing one of their official merchandise t-shirts.
Min revealed to reporters that she had requested the interrogation be moved forward from the original date due to her impatient nature, stating that she simply told the truth during the questioning.
I just need to tell the truth. The breach of trust doesn’t make any sense.
— Min Hee Jin
She also expressed relief that the process was over and felt refreshed.
This first step into the criminal investigation into Min Hee Jin’s actions after a Seoul court blocked HYBE Corporation from dismissing Min Hee-jin, as CEO from ADOR. The two entities have been embroiled in a highly publicized dispute since HYBE had initiated a surprise audit of Min and subsequently accused her of breaching trust by allegedly plotting to usurp control of ADOR and take NewJeans with her.
